Helen Barnes

Helen A. Barnes, 98, of St. Clair, passed away Wednesday, September 16, 2026 at Providence Place, Pottsville.

Born in York Tunnel, March 24, 1928, she was a daughter of the late Mario and Helen (Graeff) Stablum. Helen graduated Valedictorian from Reilly Township High School, Class of 1945; she enjoyed reciting her speech for friends up until her death. She worked as a sewing machine operator at Honey Bee Blouse Factory, Branchdale, and was a union leader in the ILGWU. She was a member of St. Casmir’s Church, St. Clair.

In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husband George Barnes in 2016, and siblings John and Charles Stablum, Dolores Quinn, Rose Karmazin and Margaret Sorokach.

Helen is survived by daughters Lori Maley and husband Tom, Schuylkill Haven; Kim Lukacz and husband Mike, Cressona; and Lisa Barnes and husband Mohamed Benchaib, Canada and St. Clair; grandchildren Tyler and Zachary Maley, and Lauren and Rachel Lukacz; a sister Jean Roeder, Schuylkill Haven; nieces and nephews; and her best friend Poppy.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 23rd, at Bruce T. Hart Funeral Home, 110 N. Second St., St. Clair, PA 17970. Friends are invited to call from 10 a.m.- noon at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hillside SPCA, P.O. Box 233, Pottsville, PA 17901.

Burial will be private at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
