James D. “Jimo” Larish, 72, of St. Clair, passed away on Friday, October 23, 2026, at Lehigh Valley Hospital–Cedar Crest in Allentown.
Born in Pottsville on January 28, 1954, Jim was the son of the late John Jacob Larish and Betty (Wineland) Larish. He attended school in St. Clair and continued on to work as a cook for 40 years at Pottsville Hospital and Warne Clinic. He also worked part-time at Mountain Valley Golf Course.
Jim had a lifelong love of sports and dedicated much of his time to the St. Clair community. He coached Little League baseball, softball, basketball, and midget football, sharing his love of sports with generations of young athletes. Above all, Jim loved being involved in his own children’s lives and was always there to coach them, support them, and cheer them on. Coaching was more than a hobby for Jim; it was a way to spend time with his children and make a difference in the lives of others.
His commitment to his community extended beyond the playing field. Jim was a member of the St. Clair Fish & Game, served as vice president of the St. Clair Area School Board, and served as president of St. Clair Borough Council. Through his coaching, public service, and involvement in local organizations, Jim made a lasting contribution to the community he called home.
An accomplished bowler, Jim was inducted into the Greater Schuylkill USBC Hall of Fame in recognition of his achievements. He was also a devoted Bruce Springsteen fan. Some of his favorite times were spent sitting on his deck, enjoying the company of family and friends and making memories with the people he loved.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary (McCaffrey) Larish, in 2021; his sister, Ruth Kisko; and his brother, John “Bill” Larish.
He is survived by his three children: James D. Larish Jr. of St. Clair; Eric Larish and his wife, Maria, of Pottsville; and Alexandra Iommi and her husband, Paul, of Frackville. He is also survived by his cherished grandpuppies.
A memorial service celebrating Jim’s life will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 29, 2026, at Bruce T. Hart Funeral Home, 110 N. Second Street, St. Clair, PA 17970. Friends and family may call from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family or Greater Schuylkill USBC at 166 Aspen Drive, Auburn, PA 17922.
Burial will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 30, 2026, at Odd Fellows Cemetery in St. Clair.
