Stephen E. “Babe” Rennick, 77, of St. Clair, passed away peacefully Saturday, May 30, 2026, at his home surrounded by his family.
Born in Pottsville, on October 12, 1948, he was a son of the late Stephen and Helen (Smyk) Rennick.
He was a 1966 graduate of St. Clair High School, going on to attend Penn State University before earning his B.S. in Liberal Arts from Kutztown University.
Stephen served in the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne Division as an infantryman during Vietnam.
He retired as the Chief Probation Officer for the Adult Probation and Parole Department in Schuylkill County.
He was a member of St. Clare of Assisi Roman Catholic church and the former Immaculate Conception Church; St. Clair Amvets Post 142, and American Legion Post 719. Other memberships include Independent Hunting Club; St. Clair Fish & Game; Vietnam Veterans' Home Association, Shoentown; PIAA Football and Basketball Referee for 31 years; and CBOA College Basketball Referee for 10 years. During the 1980's, he was a member of the St. Clair and Schuylkill IU #29 School Boards and the St. Clair Sewer Authority.
He was preceded in death by his wife Christine (Mellot) Rennick in 2020; Nephew Jeff Tohill.
Surviving are his daughter Michelle Kearns and her husband Stephen of Myerstown; brother Robert Rennick and his wife Karen of St. Clair; sister Helen Tohill and her husband James of Port Carbon, Nieces and Nephews, Jennifer Thomas and her husband Jason; James Tohill Jr. and his wife Heidi; Elizabeth Bush; Amanda Overby and her husband Darrin; Great Nieces and Nephews; Former wife and friend Carol Rennick of St. Clair.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM Friday June 5, 2026 from St. Clare of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, 250 E. Hancock St. St. Clair, PA with Msgr. William F. Glosser officiating. Friends may call from 9:30 AM - 11:00 AM Friday at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Vietnam Veterans Home Association 612 N 5th St. Port Carbon, PA 17965. Burial with military honors will be in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, St. Clair. Bruce T. Hart Funeral Home, St. Clair is in charge of arrangements. www.brucethartfuneralhome.com
